I get my boiler serviced regularly therefore I will be OK...
Not necessarily, you need to make sure that the servicing is done correctly and that the flu remains clear i.e. no birds nest etc. Appliances can break down between servicing so the best advice is to supplement the servicing by fitting a CO Detector and in this way you will have done everything possible to ensure yours and your families safety.

I will be safer with a detector fitted...
Only if it gives a low level warning the British standard does NOT allow for a low level alarm insist on a detector with a low level alarm. Yes, but only if the detector is officially approved to one of the major CO alarm standards.
